장구, 태평소를 위한 이중협주곡 "얼씨구, 구정놀이"

작품해설

구정놀이는 전남지역의 토박이말로, 풍물 굿의 연희중 풍물 잡이 들이 형식과 틀을 벗어나 개인적인 기량을 한껏 뽐내는 놀이를 의미한다. 작곡가는 태평소의 반주로 연희하는 ‘장구 구정놀이’에 착안하여 서양의 관현악 어법을 현대적으로 융합하여 새롭게 해석하였다. 흔히 구정놀이에 나오는 동살풀이, 자진모리, 휘모리장단 외에도 경기 도당 굿의 올림 채, 웃다리 풍물의 칠채 장단 등이 시나위 가락과 함께 차용 되어 작곡가 고유의 음악적 언어로 구사 되었다. ‘얼씨구, 구정놀이’는 개인적인 기량과 장기를 드러내는 기회를 만들어 전체와 개인, 협동성과 개성, 합주와 독주의 대립적인 양상을 ‘협주곡’이라는 틀에 넣어 조화롭게 구성한 작품이다.

작품해설(영문)

Gujeongnori is a word in the dialect of the Jeollanam-do region which refers to the display of captivating performances by pungmuljaebi during pungmulgut. The composer took inspiration from janggu gujeongnori performed with taepyeongso accompaniment and combined it with Western orchestration techniques. In addition to dongsalpuri, jajinmori, and hwimori rhythms often found in gujeongnori, ollimchae of Gyeonggi dodanggut (vil- lage rituals that used to be performed in Gyeonggi-do) and chilchae of utdari pungmul (pungmul performed to reward the hard work of farmers during the farming season) were employed along with sinawi melodies and reinterpreted through the composer’s own musical language. “Eolssigu, Gujeongnori” is designed to highlight each individual performer’s skills and strengths and elicit the contrasting concepts of group and indi- vidual, collaboration and individuality, and ensemble and solo into harmony within the framework of a concerto.
