피아노와 오케스트라를 위한 Motion은 템포 변화를 수반한 다양한 주제적 부분들이 단악장 내에서 모자이크 형식으로 작곡되었다. 오케스트라에 의한 서주 (A)가 제시되고 피아노 독주에 의한 정적이고 열정적인 첫 번째 주요주제(B)가 등장한 후, 고요하고 평온한 연결구적인 주제 (C)가 오케스트라에 의해 전개된다. 예고 없이 빠르고 생동감 있는 두 번째 주요주제 (D)가 오케스트라에 의해 먼저 제시되고 피아노 독주로 이어진 후 피아노와 여러 악기의 도입으로 앙상블 효과가 연출된다. 그 후 대조적으로 가볍고 경쾌한 오스티나토 리듬에 의한 새로운 주제적motion (E)이 제시된다. 이와 같이 전반부에 등장한 5개의 상이한 주제적 요소는 후반부에서 5개의 부분으로 새롭게 변형, 재현되어 전체 10개의 소부분 (A-B1?C1-D1-E1-B2-D2-E2-C2-D3)으로 구성된다. 이 작품에서 피아노 악기는 전통적인 협주곡에서의 화려한 독주역할보다는 오케스트라와 동등하게 다루어졌다.

The movement structure of Motion is patterned on a mosaic form in which several thematic ideas are constructed within ten parts (A-B1?C1-D1-E1-B2-D2-E2-C2-D3) with a change in tempo and mood. After the introduction (A) is presented by the orchestra itself, the first thematic motion (B) in a static but appassionato mood is introduced by the solo piano. As the piece evolves, a solo piano part is incorporated with solo passages by other instruments as in the manner of ensemble. In the contrast with the main theme, but the secondary motion (D) suddenly appears in a fast and vigorous mood. Two parts (C & E) suggests other new motions linking the first and second thematic ideas. In the treatment of the relationship between soloist and orchestra, the weight is equally given to both parts.
