놀이동산에서의 즐거운 하루를 그린 이호영의 시 “5월, 카니발”을 좌도농악, 특히 구례 잔수농악의 가락을 소리로 삼아 읊은 작품이다. ‘두둥갱이’, ‘돌이뱅뱅’, ‘중중몰이’ 등의 잔수농악의 특징적 가락에 쇳소리를 통한 진풀이의 변환, 몰아치는 박절적 휘모리장단을 사용하여 일상에서의 탈출, 놀이동산에서의 축제를 표현하고자 했다.

Lee Ho-yeong's poem "May, Carnival", which illustrates a joyful day at an amusement park, is recited in pansori style against the tunes of Honam Jwado Nongak (nongak that has been handed down in the western region of Jeolla Province), especially Gurye Jansu Nongak. The beats and tunes representative of Jansu Nongak (such as dudunggaengi, doribaengbaeng, and jungjungmori) are combined with traditional gugak beats (such as jinpuri and dramatic metric hwimori played by brass percussion instruments) to portray an escape from daily routine and a festivity.
