1악장 (인수봉[仁壽峰]-더 이상 오를 곳이 없는) “어머니산”이란 뜻의 모악(母岳)이라고 불린다. “아리랑”을 테마로 우리민족을 품은 어머니의 부드럽고 깊은 마음과 사면이 바위로 깍아져 더 이상 오를 곳이 없는 강인하고 웅장한 모습을 함께 표현.
2악장 (백운대[白雲臺]-흰구름아래 어우러져) 다양한 타악기를 이용하여 기암절벽의 조망이 일품인 것과 자연의 조화로움을 묘사.
3악장 만경대[萬景臺]-여명은 밝아오고) 정도전이 한양을 조감 했던 것으로 유명하다. 북의 울림을 강조하고 7채 리듬의 현대적인 변형을 사용함으로써 건국의 기개와 이미지를 표출.
작품해설(영문)
First movement: 'Insubong Peak – No Higher Place to Reach.' Bukhansan is also called Moak meaning 'Mother Mountain.' 'Arirang (a representative Korean folk song)' is used as a theme to express this mother's warm embrace of the Korean people and the imposing rocky peak.
Second movement: 'Baegundae Peak – In Harmony Under White Clouds.' This part involves diverse percussion instruments and beats to describe the superb view of the steep precipice with rocks of fantastic shapes and natural harmony.
Third movement: 'Mangyeongdae Peak – Dawn is Breaking.' This is where Jeong Do-jeon, an adviser to King Taejo, founder of the Joseon dynasty, and the principal architect of the Joseon regime, had a bird's eye view of all of Hanyang, today's Seoul. This part emphasizes the pounding of drums and uses the contemporary transformation of 36-time rhythm to represent the spirit and image of national foundation.
