이 곡은 크게 다섯부분으로 구성되어 있다. 첫번째 부분에서는 먼저 떠난 이에 대한 사무친 그리움을 나타낸다. 한가지 감정이 극단적으로 하나의 소리에 함축되어 유도된 후 표현적으로 이어져 간다. 두번째 부분은 먼저 떠난 이와 아직 남아 있는 이와의 대화로서, 전통적인 느낌의 뚜렷한 선율선이 제시된 후 점차 변화되어 가는데 다른 부분들에 비해 서정적, 서술적 성격이 짙다. 세번째 부분에서는 죽음 앞에서의 여러 감정을, 네번째 부분에서는 보내는 이의 기도를 각각 대금과 가야금으로 표현한다. 마지막 부분은 죽음과 영혼의 세계에 순응하는 마음을 그리고 있다.

Jin-Hon means Requiem in Korean. This work can be divided into five parts. The frist part is about deep yearning for a person who is dead. It starts with one note which is expresses the yearning and it develops dramatically. The second part is a conversation between a dead person and a living person. This part is more lyrical as well as descriptive than the other parts, and consists of tunes from the Korean traditional scale. The third part expresses many kinds of feeling in the face of death, and the fourth part is the prayer sending the dead person to the other world. The last part is about the mind which must change to accept death as a part of the natural order.
