이 곡은 여섯 개의 팀파니를 한 연주자가 연주하는 곡으로서 강한 트레몰로로 시작되어
강약의 변화가 많은 도입부, 규칙적으로 지속되는 박동과 이와 더불어 짤막한 리듬모티브
가 변형․발전 되어가는 첫째부분, 세박자의 모티브가 점차 그 길이를 확대시켜가는 둘째부
분, 연주자의 음악성과 테크닉을 발휘하여 다양한 표현을 하도록 하는 셋째부분, 일곱박자
의 주제가 제시되고 이를 모방적으로 진행시켜가는 넷째 부분, 그리고 짧은 코다로 구성된
다. 팀파니가 고정된 여러 음고를 소리낼 수 악기라는 점과 한명의 연주자에의한 연주가능
성을 최대한 활용하면서 각 부분의 특징을 달리하고 있다. 연주자와 작곡자의 입장에서 학
구적인 연구자료가 될 수 있도록 의도적으로 작곡된 곡이다.
작품해설(영문)
This is a piece of work for solo timpanist playing 6 timpani. Beginning with strong tremolo, Introduction has many variations of dynamic. Accompanied with sustained regular beat, short rhythmic motif is varied and developed in the first part. In the second part, motif of three beat long extends the length of the motif as it goes. Then a soloist can play his or her own expressive interpretation showing his or her musical talent and technique. The fourth part proceeds with motif of seven beat long and its imitating rhythm, followed by short coda.
In this work, each parts has its characteristics, expecting to make clear that the timpani sound various tuned pitches and trying to maximize the performance possibility. The composer intends to contribute this work as academic resource (material) for performer
and composer as well.
