I experienced the Korean War (1950~1953) at the peak of my youth, when my eagerness to pursue learning was at its height. Therefore the 'Sonata for Cello and Piano' is a song of love dedicated to the period in my life when my love and passion for music was most sincere and pure: unable to afford music paper, I traced the lines on a white sheet of paper while searching for the soul of each note.
Awarded the First Prize at the <4th Annual Korean National Music Competition> sponsored by the Ministry of Eeducation, the 'Sonata for cello and piano' marks my debut into the world of music composition. The piece was premired by the late Prof. Jae Hong KIM.
