Dolmen 고인돌
받침돌 위에 거대한 덮개돌을 덮은 선사시대의 무덤으로 알려진 고인돌에 관한 상상을 해보았다.
고인돌에서 느껴지는 인상의 묘사로 시작되는 이 곡은 고인돌에 묻혀 진 족장과 그의 졸개들의 출현(An appearance of the tribal chief and his family)에 이어 벌어지는 잔치(Feast)와 부족 싸움(Tribal fighting), 어린 시절의 꿈(Dreaming of childhood), 무덤 속으로(Into the grave), 그리고 세워지는 고인돌의 내용으로 진행된다.
이 곡의 대부분의 선율은 어린 시절 놀면서 흔히 부르던 노래와 전통 선율, 리듬 등에서 가져온 것이다.
작품해설(영문)
Dolmen for Chamber Orchestra (world premiere) is based on the idea of a Dolmen-a type of prehistoric tomb consisting of two or more upright stones supporting a large horizontal stone. The piece begins with the impression of a Dolmen, followed by “an appearance of the tribal chief and his family,” “feast,” “tribal fighting,” “dreaming of childhood,” “into the grave,” and “building a dolmen.” Most of the melodies quoted in this piece are from traditional folk songs.
