The title of the piece. Byul-gok, written for American performance means the piece's unconventional and unorthodox character. A ceaseless exploration of sonority is a fundamental theme of Paik's works. In this composition too, composer tries to express in linear movement of music sonority beyond physical sound and sonority with diverse emotions. What is depicted here are exposure of despondency and outcry of deceased hope that are rooted in deep inside of composer's mind. But at times, the composer finds consolation for a ray of hope.
