This work fully exploits the distinctive quality of sounds that only a cello produce. The first movement manipulates melodic, rhythmic and harmonic elements, while the second one creates a perpetual motion. After the cadenza-like third movement. The fourth one is a duo of two-monodic lines where even the piano plays a single voice. Finally, the piece ends with a homophonic gesture.
