소프라노와 관현악을 위한 "'꽃'에 관한 네 개의 가곡"

작품해설

96년도 Pan Music Festival 위촉으로 작곡되었다. 김영태 시집 “매혹”에는 꽃이라는 제목의 시 111편이 수록되어 있다. 마치 꽃 변주곡과 같은 느낌이다. 이 중에서 네 편을 뽑아 각 시 머리 부분을 그대로 제목으로 하였다. 당초 소프라노와 관현악을 위한 작품으로 구상되었으나 시일이 촉박하여 초연 때에는 피아노 반주로 대신했었는데 오늘 비로소 본래의 모습으로 선을 보이게 되었다. 시 자체에 꽃이라는 어휘는 등장하지도 않고 시의 특성으로 보아도 불려지는 시라기보다는 읊조리는 시여서 이러한 특성을 역으로 살려 보았다. 이것이 꽃에서 풍겨지는 “매혹”이 아닐까......

작품해설(영문)

“Four Songs based on flowers” was commissioned by Pan Music Festival and premiered in 1996, Kim Young-Tae’s collection of poetry [Mae Hok(Charm)] comprises 111 poem, all exploring the theme of flowers; just like a variation form based on floral subjects. I chose four among them and retained the beginning of each poem as the title of each piece.

Originally conceived for soprano and orchestra, it premiered in the form of music for soprano with piano accompaniment, due to lack of time. Finally today, it is created in its original form. The poems used here do not explore the term of “flower” itself, and even the characteristics of the poetry are much closer to the aspects of recitation than sung form, the same characteristics I tried to express throughout the work Maybe that is what “Mae Hok (Charm)” in a flower is all about....
