1. "Jung" (Love and Affection) / 2. "Han" (Regrets) / 3. "Riding the flowery clouds I bid you farewell"
Written in three movements for solo Komungo, the 'Love Song of a Pasqueflower' does not rely on Korean traditional writing techniques nor does it follow its western counterpart. Instead, the piece exploits the profound and deep tonal colors and textures characteristic of Komungo. The work introduces, in a pure and simple language, the natural sound, the light and the heartbreaking melody bursting like a fountain from the deepest part of our heart.
In a pasqueflower, with its scarlet colored petals covered with white downy textures, dropping its head so timidly, I saw my own image, I saw You. I also glimpsed at our own lofty images of life. The sprit of the flower educes the tough nationalistic essence and spiritual energy, the pure and untarnished image of the human kind and the passionate lyricsm emerging from the abyss, all offered without regrets:
"I have truly loved.../ with no regrets.../ and as I ride the flowery clouds.../ I bid farewell / and head out for Heaven..." says the Pasqueflower.
This piece truly reflects the purity, the mysticism and the beauty of life itself, expressed in a philosophical language.
